What can I do if Wi-Fi is connected but it says no Internet?

If you can access your D-Link router but not the Internet, it might be an issue with the router, or modem, your ISP or another configuration issue. Use the following troubleshooting tips to see what may go wrong:

  •  Make sure the router’s Internet port is firmly connected to your modem’s Ethernet port via an Ethernet cable.
  •  Check the LED on your D-Link router or range extender and make sure the LED has a solid white. If it is off, red or blinking orange, try to reboot your D-Link devices or relocate your extenders.
  •  Go to the Wi-Fi settings and turn it off and turn it back on. If it still doesn’t work, try “Forgot” or “Remove” your existing Wi-Fi and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network by entering the password again.
  •  Restart your device to refresh the network settings and establish a new connection with the Wi-Fi network.
  •  Power cycle the modem and ensure it has obtained an WAN IP address from your ISP. If you don’t get Internet when you connect your computer to the modem directly, then the issue is with the ISP. Contact your ISP to see if there is an outage or modem problem.
  •  Try separating your Wi-Fi networks and connect your device to another network.
  •  Try changing your router’s DNS settings. This may enhance Internet speed.
  •  Each client device must have a unique IP address on the network. If multiple client devices on the network have the same IP address, it can cause connectivity problems.
  •  Your device might be manually blocked by your network administrator or parental control rules. Check the router’s settings or contact your network administrator.
  •  Make sure Wi-Fi Mesh is still enabled if you’ve created a Mesh network.
  •  Your ISP might require a username and password. Make sure you’ve entered the correct login credentials or ask your ISP whether they require Point-to-Point over Ethernet (PPPoE) or some other type of login.
  •  Your ISP allows only one Ethernet MAC address to connect to the Internet and might check for your computer’s MAC address. In this case, do one of the following:

- Contact your ISP and ask them to use the new router’s MAC address.

- Configure your router to clone your computer’s MAC address.

  •  Your ISP might require VLAN ID for Internet connection. In this case, contact your ISP about VLAN ID and follow the steps below to configure your router:

Tap Settings > Internet > VLAN, enter VLAN ID provided by your ISP.

  •  Reset your D-Link router to the factory default and re-install it as a last resort.
