How do I enable Encryption on the DWL-G520 and DWL-G650?
It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless router oraccess point before your wireless network adapters. Pleaseestablish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption.
Note: Your network will slow down and wirelesssignal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the addedoverhead.
Windows 98/ME/2000
Step 1 Open the D-Link AirPlus wireless utility bydouble-clicking on the bar graph icon in your system tray(lower-right corner of screen). Select SiteSurvey.
Step 2 Highlight your SSID in theAvailable Networks Authentication for the auth.mode. Click Connect.
Step 3 The Data Encryption box should be checkedand greyed-out. If not, then enable encryption on your access pointor wireless router first. Auth. Mode should be set toShared Authentication. Under Key Length, select64, 128, or256-bits . Click on Default Key 1and enter the Hex encryption key that was entered into the wirelessrouter or access point. The key length will depend on the selectionmade under the key length. The key is HEX, meaningA-F and 0-9.

Step 4 Click on the OK buttonto save your settings.
Windows XP
Step 1 Right click on the two computer monitoricon in the system try and select View Available WirelessNetworks.
Step 2 Click on the Advancedbutton. Uncheck the Use Windows to configure my WirelessNetworks box and click on the OKbutton.
Follow steps 1-4 from the Windows 98SE/ME/2000 configuration.
If your wireless network is not showing up under sitesurvey
Step 1 Open the D-Link AirPlus wireless utility bydouble-clicking on the bar graph icon and selectEncryption.
Step 2 Put a check in the DataEncryption box and select SharedAuthentication in the auth. mode menu. Select64, 128, or254-bit encryption for the key length. Underkey 1 type in the Hex encryption key that wasentered into the wireless router/access point. The key length willdepend on the selection made under the key length. The key is HEX,meaning A-F and 0-9.
