How do I enable WEP encryption on the DWL-520 / DWL-650?
It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless routeror access point before your wireless network adapters. Pleaseestablish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption.
Note: Your network will slow down and wirelesssignal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the addedoverhead.
Site Survey
Step 1 Double-click the bar graph icon in thesystem tray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of the screen,by the clock) and select Site Survey.
Step 2 Select your SSID in the AvailableNetworks Authentication section for the auth. mode. ClickConnect.
Step 3 Enable encryption and configure thesettings below Auth. mode. to match those configured onyour access point or wireless router.
Step 4 Click OK.
Windows XP SP1 (or no service pack)
Step 1 Right-click the two computer monitors iconin the system tray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of thescreen, by the clock) and select View Available WirelessNetworks.
Step 2 Click Advanced.
Step 3 Uncheck Use Windows to configure mywireless network settings and clickOK.
Step 4 Double-click the bar graph icon in thesystem tray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of the screen,by the clock) and select Site Survey.
Step 5 Select your SSID in the AvailableNetworks Authentication section for the auth. mode. ClickConnect.
Step 6 Enable encryption and configure thesettings below Auth. mode. to match those configured onyour access point or wireless router.
Step 7 Click OK.
Windows XP SP2
Step 1 Right-click the wireless icon in the systemtray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of the screen, by theclock) and select View Available WirelessNetworks.
Step 2 In the Wireless NetworkConnection window click Change advancedsettings on the right side below RelatedTasks.
Step 3 Uncheck Use Windows to configure mywireless network settings and then clickOK.

If your wireless network is not showing in SiteSurvey
Step 1 Double-click the bar graph icon in thesystem tray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of the screen,by the clock) and select Encryption.
Step 2 Select Data Encryption andthen select Shared Authentication next toAuth. mode. Select 64,128, or 256-bit encryption forthe key length. Next to Key 1 type in the Hex encryptionkey that was entered into the wireless router/access point.
Step 3 Click Apply to save yoursettings.
