The recommended installation is using thesupplied ethernet cable from the camera to your DHCProuter.

You can install the camera directly to a computers ethernetport, but in that case the supplied ethernet cable will not fit.Look for a "cross-over cable" in a computer accessory shop.

Since no router present, you will need to assign your computer astatic IP address, in range with the camera.
